This was our first trip to the floating city and oh my it is a city unlike any other.
Stepping foot in Venice is like stepping into a fairytale. The absence of cars and roads are replaced with gliding gondolas and vaporettos (water buses) navigating the city’s highways. It creates an atmosphere of tranquility and serenity. Just exploring the narrow streets is an adventure in itself.
By our 5th day in Venice we didn’t want to leave, but for us it was the perfect amount of time to explore all of its beauty.

1. Eat Gelato at Suso Gelatoteco
For anyone visiting Venice, a trip to Suso Gelatoteco is a must. It is not just a gelateria but a testament to the artistry and passion of gelato-making.
The famous owner, Suso, has become a beloved figure in the local community and a must-visit destination for gelato lovers from all around the world.
What sets Suso Gelatoteco apart from other gelaterias is his commitment to using only the freshest and finest ingredients. Suso personally sources the ingredients from local farmers and trusted suppliers. He believes that the quality of the ingredients is crucial in creating a truly exceptional gelato experience.
We would recommend one of your scoops being the “Opera”, an absolute chocolate delight! But, with any of your choices you couldn’t go wrong. It was honestly the best gelato we’ve ever tasted. Enjoy, and thank us later!
2. Visit Rialto Bridge and Market
Whether you are a history enthusiast, an architecture lover, or simply a curious traveler, the Rialto Bridge is a must-visit destination in Venice.
Also known as Ponte di Rialto in Italian, it is one of the most iconic landmarks in the enchanting city of Venice, Italy.
The bridge serves as a covered space for shops and stalls. You can explore the market, known as the Rialto Market, which has been a trading center for centuries, attracting locals and tourists alike. 3. Visit the San Marco Campanile
Visit the heart of Venice and enjoy the view from the San Marco Campanile, or also known as St. Mark’s Bell Tower. It is an iconic landmark that dominates the skyline of Venice, Italy. Standing tall at a height of 98.6 meters (323 feet), it is not only a symbol of the city but also offers breathtaking panoramic views of Venice and it’s surrounding islands.
For an entry price of €10pp, you can ascend the Campanile via a lift, which takes you to the top in just a matter of seconds. As you reach the observation deck, you’ll be greeted with a breathtaking panorama of Venice. The views are truly amazing, offering a unique perspective of the city’s enchanting beauty.
From the deck, you can admire the iconic St. Mark’s Square and the bustling activity below. The view extends to the lagoon, where you can see the shimmering waters, the maze of canals, and the countless rooftops and bell towers that make up the unique Venetian skyline.
4. Visit the famous Librairie Acqua Alta bookstore

Take a short boat ride to Burano and Murano Islands for the day. This is one of, if not the most enjoyable experience when visiting Venice, Italy.

6. Take a day trip to Verona
Add an extra day to your Venice holiday and take a day trip to Verona, Italy. Just over an hour train ride from Venezia Santa Lucia train station, you can experience what is known worldwide as the setting for Shakespeare’s tragic love story, Romeo and Juliet.
Verona has a more traditional urban atmosphere with a lively city centre, charming squares and picturesque buildings. It is a landlocked city steeped in history, romance and artistic beauty. One of the most iconic landmarks is the Arena di Verona, a Roman amphitheater that dates back to the 1st century AD.
Verona provides for a more relaxed and intimate experience due to attracting less crowds compared to the popular city Venice.
